Stephen Cranes vs Emily Dickinsons view of nature Essay Example

Stephen Cranes versus Emily Dickinsons perspective on nature Essay Despite the fact that the creators were counterparts for a while, Dickinson and Crane were impacted by the common abstract developments of their occasions Romanticism and Naturalism, individually and their perspectives on nature were formed appropriately, justifiably contrasting a considerable amount. The social orders wherein Huck Finn and Edna Pontellier lived are normally the principal part of said ventures that should be analyzed, for they had been the reason for the issue in the two cases. While both lived in the countrys south Huck in Missouri and Edna in Louisiana, their accounts are set in to some degree various occasions, and distinctive focal issues are available. Hucks story is set in the pre-common war 1830s, when subjugation, prejudice and imbalance were flourish, yet were not viewed as a thing strange. Every single social organization and authority figures in Hucks environmental factors were tolerating of the truth, and therefore, his natural qualities discovered nothing ethically amiss with the circumstance, and his own excursion (joined with the strict one) brought about a difference in this observation. (Baym 245), when the runaway slave reveals to him that he is, for sure, a runaway slave. In this shout lie the qualities Huck begins with, the idea that Jim, who is legitimate property of Miss Watson, planned something horrendous for her by fleeing. Change can start to be spotted when Huck understands that individuals are searching for Jim and says Git up and murmur yourself, Jim! There aint a moment to lose. Theyre after us! (Baym 257). Its this us that shows the adjustment in Hucks recognition People in reality are after Jim, not them. Also, Edna Pontelliers encompassing society and its portrayal in the start of The Awakening serve to delineate what she begins with. The distinguished Louisiana Creole society of the 1890s was male-predominant, yet less from a persuasive perspective as in ladies were relied upon to do as their spouses state and were required to follow a specific unwritten code of obvious dutifulness. Chopin presents this somewhat transparently, while depicting different ladies in the novel They were ladies who venerated their kids, loved their spouses, and regarded it a heavenly benefit to destroy themselves as people and develop wings as serving blessed messengers. (Baym 638). This was the perfect lady of the time and spot, something that Edna Pontellier was not, as is obvious from her spouses reproving of her for ignoring the kids (Baym 637) to start with as of now. Along these lines, Edna begins with a ghost acknowledgment of her societies esteems, yet her enlivening is activated by that mid year spent on Grand Isle and a significant change is realized, as Ednas mission for the opportunity of acting naturally throughout everyday life (Baym 643). A procedure comparative in grouping to what befell Huck. Now, the internal excursions for the two characters start to accelerate, and the centrality of the disclosures they make increments. Huck and Jim set out on their excursion down the Mississippi on their pontoon, and its during the time spent this excursion that Huck changes, primarily because of his finding of things about Jim that he didn't consider conceivable previously. In spite of the fact that its lone the instance of one individual now, Jim, these revelations register as disclosures about a bigger gathering of individuals in Hucks mind dark slaves. When on one event he deceived Jim and caused him to feel very terrible, it took Huck fifteen minutes to at long last figure out how to force himself to apologize before a dark individual. Despite the fact that it was something not intrinsic to his qualities, he did it, and didnt feel sorry he did as much as he felt amazed that Jim for sure was harmed, and along these lines had feelings as well (Baym 272). What Huck considered right despite everything gave him no rest, for he was accomplishing something incorrectly by aiding Jim in his break, this maybe is his focal interior clash. When Jim discusses taking his kids from their proprietor, it stuns Huck much more, and he is frustrated to hear such talk from Jim (Baym 281, 282), yet, it in the long run causes him to understand that dark individuals also have families, and that they feel connected to them similarly as white individuals are to theirs. This acknowledgment is a major amazement for Huck, since it sabotages all the qualities he has been educated by life in the south dark individuals are human. A focal inward clash is the thing that happens to Edna also, despite the fact that it is diverse in nature. The seed of this contention can be situated in something she says to Madame Ratignolle, her model Creole lady companion: I would surrender the unessential; I would give my cash, I would give my life for the kids; yet I wouldnt give myself. (Baym 669, 670). Obviously, the one in particular who comprehended these words somewhat in any event was Edna herself, just she understands what the mid year went through on Grand Isle with Robert, before he left to Mexico, activated in her a major hatred of all that she was constrained into, and a disclosure of specific pieces of her mind that she didn't know at any point existed. As they come back to New Orleans, it stresses Ednas spouse that she deserts every last bit of her housekeeping duties and just for the most part opposes him as he tells it to the family specialist who he wanted guidance to (Baym 684). When Mr. Pontellier leaves for one more excursion for work, Edna consequently rests easy thinking about everything in her life, and As she cuddled serenely underneath the eiderdown a feeling of soothing quality attacked her, for example, she had not known previously. (Baym 690). It very well may be unmistakably comprehended from this that Ednas spouses minor nearness made negative feelings, most likely in light of the consistent power he has consistently had over her. Both Huck and Edna have now found exceptionally critical new things, yet they have been in revelations in somewhat various headings. In Hucks case, it was predominantly about the outside world, however it by and by set off a difference in recognition in him. We can see that Huck isn't of sick good character, he has a general feeling of what is correct and what's going on, some portion of which would in any case fit even our occasions. This is clear from his choice to help Mary Jane and her sisters recover the cash that the fakes denied them of (Baym 342). However, at a few focuses all through his excursion down the waterway with Jim, he has contemplated the alternative of telling Miss Watson of the whereabouts of her property, and thusly turning Jim in, on the grounds that as indicated by what he has been educated, it would be the best activity. Huck adequately accepts that in the event that he doesnt do it, he will push off as discipline for his wrongdoing, on the grounds that that is the thing that the congregation and Sunday school of the south instructed him. Maybe the most huge defining moment is his choice to challenge these lessons All right, at that point, Ill push off (Baym 359), he said as he destroyed the letter of warning he intended to send to Miss Watson. He despite everything sees himself as insidious, albeit clearly, he has put Jims incentive to him as his companion higher than Jim being a runaway slave, or perhaps a choice that servitude is without a doubt wrong, in spite of the fact that the peruser isn't recounted it. This is the finish of Hucks internal excursion, and starting now and into the foreseeable future, he acts as indicated by his new feelings (doing everything he can to free Jim). When in the books end Aunt Sally intends to embrace him once more, he isn't tolerating of it, maybe in light of the fact that he feels that he would be not able to fall once again into southern existence with the new information he has obtained, and chooses to take off for Indian regions (Baym 407). Thus, Edna has been dependent upon specific acknowledge that change her view of herself and her general surroundings, making her demonstration in like manner. She is stunned at the emotions that a kiss from Alci e Arobin stimulates in her It was the primary kiss of her life to which her tendency had truly reacted. It was a blazing light that ignited want. (Baym 698). She was a hitched lady, but then she had never experienced genuine enthusiasm for her significant other as much as she accomplished for this man she scarcely knew. Her cultural qualities boom out that it isn't right, yet she feels no regret, and that disturbs her much more (Baym 698). From this abrupt disclosure of another part of herself and on, Edna, it could be said simply like Huck, gradually understands that with her recently obtained information there will never be place for her in the current society. She becomes reserved enough that she in a manner pronounces her recently obtained qualities to Robert, the person who activated it all in any case I give myself where I pick. What's more, this announcement clearly startles Robert, he isnt so sure he can manage such a lady what he knows and puts stock in doesn't equivalent to this assertion of Ednas (Baym 716). He abandons her with a basic note: I love you. Great by, in light of the fact that I love you. (Baym 720). Edna now realizes that she can never again be her old, pompous self. Not with what she has stirred to, and not in this shut and not getting society. There were no Indian domains for her to take off for, and she in this manner chooses to do the main thing that would equivalent to genuine opportunity in her circumstance she swims out of sight the sea and to her demise (Baym 723). While the two excursions inspected above contrasted essentially in their outward substance, some fundamentally the same as components have been watched. In their center, both Huck and Edna found things that in their essen

How Do I Find Private Schools Near Me

It’s a question most families ask when they are considering private school as an alternative option for high school: How can I find private schools near me? While finding the right educational institution may seem daunting, there are many sites and resources available to assist you in finding a private school near you. Start With a Google Search Chances are, you’ve gone to Google or another search engine, and typed in: private schools near me. Simple, right? That might even be how you found this article. Doing a search like that is great, and it can offer a lot of results, but not all of them will be relevant to you. How do you get around some of these challenges? To start, remember that you’re likely going to see several advertisements from schools first,  not just a list of schools. While you can check out the ads, dont get stuck on them. Instead, keep scrolling down the page. Depending on where you live, there may be only one or two options listed, or there may be dozens, and narrowing down your choices can be a challenge. But, not every school in your area will always come up, and not every school is right for you.   Online Reviews One great thing that comes with a Google search is the fact that, often, the results that you receive from your search contain reviews from people who currently attend or have attended the school in the past. Reviews can be a great way to learn more about the experiences other students and their families have had at a particular private school and can help you determine if the school might be the right fit for you. The more reviews you see, the more accurate the star rating likely will be when it comes to assessing a school. There’s a caveat to using reviews, however. It’s important to remember that reviews are often submitted by people who are either terribly upset about an experience or extremely satisfied. Not many â€Å"average† reviews are submitted, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use them as part of your research. It just means that you should take the overall rating with a grain of salt, especially if you only see a few negative ratings.   Private School Directories Directories can be a very useful tool in your search for a private school near you. The best thing to do is to go to the site of a governing body, like the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) or the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), which are considered by many to be the most reliable directories around. NAIS works with only independent schools that are accredited by the organization, while NCES will return results for both private and independent schools. What’s the difference between private and independent schools? How they are funded. And, all independent schools are private, but not vice versa.   Side note: if you’re interested in boarding schools in particular (yes, you can actually find boarding schools near you and many families do), you might check out The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS). Many students want the experience of living away from home without having to live far away from home, and a local boarding school can be the perfect solution. This is something that students tend to do if they are nervous about going away from home to college for the first time. Boarding schools offer a college-like experience but with more structure and supervision than students find at a college or university. It’s a great stepping stone experience. There are dozens of other directory sites out there, but I highly recommend sticking to some of the most reputable ones. Many sites follow a â€Å"pay to play† model, meaning that schools  can pay to be featured and promoted to families, regardless of rating or fit. You can also visit sites with longstanding reputations, like PrivateSchoolReview.com or BoardingSchoolReview.com.   There’s a bonus to using some of these directories, in that many of them are more than just a list of schools by location. They also let you drill down into what’s important to you when searching for a school. That may be a gender breakdown (coed vs. single-sex), a particular sport or artistic offering, or academic programs. These search tools help you fine tune your results and find the best private school for you. Pick a School and View the Athletic Schedule Believe it or not, this is a great way to find more private  schools near you, even if you’re not an athlete. Private schools tend to compete against other schools in their local area, and if it’s within driving distance for the school, it’s likely driving distance for you, too. Find a private school near you, regardless of if you like the school or not, and navigate to their athletic schedule. Make a list of the schools they compete against according to that athletic schedule and start doing some research to determine if they might be a potential fit for you.  Ã¢â‚¬â€¹ Social Media Believe it or not, social media is a great way to find private schools near you and even get a glimpse into the culture of the school. Sites like Facebook offer reviews that you can read to find out what other students and their families think about attending the institution. These social media pages also let you view photos, videos, and see what kinds of activities are going on at the school. Private school is more than just academics; it’s often a way of life, with many students involved in activities after classes end, including sports and arts. Plus, you can see if any of your friends like a particular private school near you and ask them for recommendations. If you follow a school, you can get updates about student life regularly and  the bots that are hard at work learning your preferences may even suggest other schools in the area that you might find interesting. Rankings People looking for the best private schools often flock to ranking systems for advice. Now, most rankings are going to return a wider range of locations than what you’d get doing a search for â€Å"private schools near me,† but they can be a great resource for collecting names of schools that might interest you and learn a little bit about a school’s public reputation. However, ranking systems come with several warnings, ranging from the fact that many are based on information that is three or more years old or is often subjective in nature. There’s also the ugly fact that some ranking systems are actually pay to play, meaning that schools can actually buy their way (or influence their way) to a higher level rank. That doesn’t mean that you can’t use ranking systems to aid you in your search, quite the contrary; using a ranking list gives you a quick view at a school’s profile and you can go and do your own research to find out if you actually like the school and wish to proceed with an inquiry. But, always take a ranking result with a grain of salt and don’t rely on someone else to judge if a school is right for you. When looking for a private school, the most important thing is to find the best private school for you. That means, knowing that you can manage the commute, afford the tuition and fees (and/or qualify for financial aid and scholarships), and enjoy the community. The school that’s 30 minutes away might just be a better fit than the one that’s five minutes away, but you won’t know unless you look.

Obamas Dnc Romneys Rnc Rhetorical Analysis - 1731 Words

RHETORICAL ANALYSIS: Obama VS. Romney It is not relatively easy to be a great speaker. To pull your audience to you, and have them consuming every sentence you prepare for them, every word you breathe. Your audience has to believe in you, trust you. They need hope and encouragement. Every word produced, and every expression given away, has to be a part of the plan. Essentially, prevailing as a great speaker is an art; an art that must be practiced and polished until a fresh gem is formed. President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are not unaware of this powerful tool. Romney describes how every hard working American deserves a better future. He argues that America has been in an economic downfall and if a new president is not elected,†¦show more content†¦This is an easily accessible area for advancement for Mitt Romney. â€Å"I wish President Obama had succeeded because I want America to succeed. But his promises gave way to disappointment and division. This isnt something we have to accept.† Here, Mitt Romney places himself alongside the public, as a citizen only wanting their president to successfully lead their country, and not as a competitor running to become the next president. This addresses sentiment within Romney’s listeners giving them reasons to doubt their current president, appealing to pathos. Romney explains in his speech that Obama has not led America in the right direction because he does not have the â€Å"basic qualification that most Americans have,† which is running a business. Here, he uses logo s and ethos; both proving himself, and constructing his credence to the power business that is the United States. Romney has strategically placed two concealed platters before the nation. When the first is revealed, he describes how Obama cannot continue leading the country because of his lack of business know-how, leaving his listeners empty handed and starving. They are now waiting for what will fix their problems. The second covered tray is already brighter, and more appeasing, and it hasn’t even been revealed yet: It is Romney’s plan. It is his plan to better the country. To formulate jobs for people, â€Å"lots of jobs.† He describes a step-by-step process that is easy to

Essay about Human Child Growth and Development - 693 Words

From preschool into early elementary school, children have begun to develop their gross motor skills. They have developed a â€Å"mature pattern of walking† and are ready to test their physical abilities to the limits. Also fine motor skills have begun to develop, however more slowly. Along with motor skills children are developing their visual, tactile, and kinesthetic senses. A child’s sensory skills are helpful in learning language. A child’s proper growth depends greatly on their nutrition and health. A healthy diet is essential to the developing child. Food should never be used to reward, punish, or bribe a child. While many psychologists have taken on the contemporary scientific consensus where no extreme view is currently justified, there are those whom believe different. Hereditarians use methods such as the IQ test to ask how much. Environmentalists on the other hand believe that ones mental abilities are learned. John Piaget theorized preoperational thought where the child has developed the ability to use symbols in order to internally represent the external world. During this time however children don’t comprehend the reversibility of operations. Piaget also believed that children are egocentric, which became a major critique of Piaget’s theory. Piaget also said that children under 7 or 8 can’t grasp the concept of causality (cause and effect), and that counting was â€Å"merely verbal knowledge† where children had not acquired the actual ability to count. Another aspect of a child’s cognitive development is language acquisition. By 3 years of age children are able to master phonology and are understanding use of syntax. Invisible Essay Paper Example For Students

Invisible Essay Paper A hero is considered to be any man noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose; especially, one who has risked or sacrificed his life. This describes one of the main characters in the highly acclaimed novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, by Ken Kesey. Randle McMurphy is the hero of this novel because he stood firmly against oppressive powers, showing courage and ultimately paying with his life. There were no heroes on the psychiatric ward before McMurphys arrival. Nurse Ratched wielded supreme power. No single patient had the ability to stand against the injustices to which they were subjected. McMurphy united these patients. He gave them collective courage and a sense that they could resist their persecutor. For example, Harding states, No ones ever dared to come out and say it before, but theres not a man among us that doesnt think it. That doesnt feel just as you do about her and the whole business-feel it somewhere down deep in his scared little soul. Not only did McMurph y unite his friends, the patients; but he understood the enemy, the staff. He recognized the ultimate authority and oppressive power of those in charge of the psychiatric ward. He also knew that to resist them would put himself at great personnel risk. McMurphy, however, took the risk and defended his fellow patients. For example, McMurphy says to the black boy who is harassing George, I said thats enough buddy. McMurphy knew this confrontation would have harsh consequences, but he took the chance. In fact McMurphy took one too many chances. This heros end comes when he lashes out at nurse Ratched, blaming her for the death of Billy Bibbit. McMurphy demonstrated his feeling for Billy by his emotional reaction to his death, First Charles Cheswick and now William Bibbit! I hope youre finally satisfied. Playing with human lives-gambling with human lives-as if you thought yourself to be God! This outburst results in McMurphy having a lobotomy and later dying. In conclusion, Randle McMur phy lost his life courageously defending the other patients. McMurphy had several chances to save himself, but chose instead to stay and help his fellow patients. McMurphy is a true hero and his acts of bravery and selfless behavior prove this. English

Interesting Persuasive Essay Topics for Teenagers

Interesting Persuasive Essay Topics for Teenagers Interesting Persuasive Essay Topics for Teenagers There are several things which make writing a persuasive (also called â€Å"argumentative†) essay a special task, and it is worth mentioning all of them. First of all, the word â€Å"persuasive† speaks for itself. Your main task is to persuade those who will read your essay that your point of view is correct. In order to do that, you should back up your idea with facts from reliable sources, because your point of view is not so authoritative to persuade people without citing well-known and established scientists, writers, or politicians. Study all available materials which can be used for your essay. Second, you have to believe in your point of view. If you try to persuade people something is true, but you dont believe in it yourself, chances are your words will sound insincere, and it will be easily noticeable. So, choose a topic that is rather debatable and choose a point of view that can be proven to be true. As you can see, choosing a topic is a rather difficult task. When choosing a topic, you should plan what you can write about and predict whether the choice is going to be successful. The easiest way to choose the topic for a persuasive essay is to think of your last argument with someone. What caused that argument? What did you disagree about? Or perhaps there is a certain stereotype and you would like to prove its not true. Anyway, there are plenty of debatable topics to choose from. If you are a teenager, you may have a feeling that your point of view somehow differs from adults point of view. This is called a generation gap and is typical of all people of different generations. Does your granny think the Internet is evil? Well, you have a great opportunity to prove shes wrong. What if shes right? Be ready to use strong arguments to persuade her. Use statistical data of recent researches, use quotes by people who are respected professionals in their particular sphere. Other topics you should consider include modern technology, video games, movies, books, contemporary art, and whatever you are interested in. After all, there is no better topic than the one you really like and know everything about it. Saying that all teenagers are the same would be so wrong. There is probably a teenager who is interested in ancient Indian literature. Why not? Now stop and think what makes you special. Use this priceless knowledge you have to write an essay. Writing an essay may be fun, but its a rather time-consuming task. Would you like us to help you? A team of skilled writers will provide you with an essay of high-quality. The introduction of a viable tree planting programme to increase the tree cover in the park would also be a primary objective of the project. The additional projects will entail a continued and separate monitoring and implementation schedule that may be implemented concurrently with the main proj ect. Unit 3DB The Green Revolution - Research Paper Example In this regard, energy conservation should be highly rated and considered if indeed the long term effects of environmental conservation are to be realised. In order to reduce personal energy consumption, the following changes can be made that would in the long run create a significant difference. To save car fuel energy consumed on daily drives to work, commuter trains and or bicycles can be used to achieve the same. This will not only reduce gasoline fuel consumption, but also help in environmental pollution. Concerning the other forms of energy use, such as the ones on lighting heating and cooking, renewable energy, specifically, solar and wind energy can be utilised. These energy forms are sustainable and also clean. On the other hand, to increase energy efficiency requires discipline in the use of already in place energy sources. This means small changes such as switching off unnecessary lights around the house, and using energy efficient light saver bulbs. In addition to this, electric appliances should be used as per the manufactures specifications. Household electric appliances account for nearly thirty per cent of home electric consumption. Therefore, efficient use will directly translate to efficient energy consumption. An electric vehicle consists of electric motors that are used to drive the car. These can be powered externally, through stored electric energy such as batteries, and through an internal energy source such as generators. Electric cars are considered to be efficient, clean, and most of all environment friendly. In this regard, yes I would purchase an electric vehicle because of its long term benefits. Fuel costs are bound to rise, that is guaranteed, In addition to that fossil fuel is not renewable and as such contributes to environmental degradation. Based on this alone, using an electric vehicle contributes to energy conservation, has long term cost benefits, and is also energy

Growth Strategies Of Kelloggs, India

Growth Strategies Of Kelloggs, India This report aims at discussing and evaluating the growth strategies adopted by Kelloggs in India. Kelloggs is a universal brand operating in about 160 countries having its manufacturing plant in more than 16 countries to produce breakfast cereals, snack and other confectionary. Kelloggs marked its presence in the Indian market in 1994 to increase its business as it saw huge potential growth owing to Indias large population and growth in economy. This report will analyse the main challenges that the company is facing now in India. Further the report aims at recommending and justifying the actions that Kelloggs should take in India to maintain their market leadership. The present day multi-national food empire of cereals was accidentally discovered by William Kellogg in Michigan, USA in 1870s. On February 19, 1906, W. K. Kelloggs officially filed the papers and incorporated the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flakes Company which later came to be known as Kelloggs. Kelloggs India has gone a remarkable growth from 1994 to the present day. To analyse the growth strategy of Kelloggs, various strategical theories can be used like Ansoff Growth theory, the 4ps of marketing, Product development process, etc. In the initial stage Kelloggs entered the Indian market in the year 1994 with three varieties of cornflakes. Then Kelloggs improved its growth strategy by changing the packaging and product to be more attractive to the targeted consumers. The company chased through the process of product development and diversification. To understand it we have to follow the Ansoffs Matrix. By adding ethnic flavours like coconut and mango, Kelloggs embarked on the process of the product development. Product development is a necessary growth strategy and can be compared with the strategy of market penetration. Kelloggs strategy becomes more effective due to the fact that the organisation not only embarked on product development with just a particular aim in mind in fact Kelloggs early entry in the Indian market draws more attention towards the customers needs. Diversification is being demonstrated by Kelloggs when it introduced its products like Sunrich and Cheez-it which were made focussing more on the impulse food rather than the breakfast cereals. The process of diversification helps an organisation to represent its brand name more widely and to decrease the risk of focussing heavily on individual market. Regardless of various attempts and strategies the products of Kelloggs were not successful. The Marketing Mix and the 4Ps of Marketing:- Neil Borden brought up the concept of the concept of the 4ps in 1964 (Adcock et al 2001) which include Product, Price, Place and promotion. These are broadly being used by the different companies to take strategic marketing decisions to develop product to satisfy customers requirements, the right price, taking the product to the right place and then promote it. 1 Product:- Products means the actual product or service that the company offers to its consumers. According to (Levitt, 1969). People do not buy products, they buy the expectation of benefits. It is the benefits that are the product. Kelloggs paid much focus on the products as it continuously changed its product. It introduced flavour like coconut and mango in its cereal products for the Indian taste. The company changed the packaging to attract the target customers. Even some of the products were given the Indian names. 2 Price:- Price provide revenue. Kelloggs has always faced problems for Price in India as Indian masses couldnt afford its products. In 1994, when Kelloggs entered India the average cost of its product was INR 21 per 100gm compared to Mohans INR 16.50 per 100gm (Vasudha, 2009). Rather than offering customers small packages of its products, Kelloggs didnt do much in reducing its price. Place:- Place implies distribution through various medium like supermarkets, offices, grocery shops etc. Kelloggs has over 200 distributors in India which has made its distribution quite efficient. While operating in India, it used to launch a new product every month to target the Indian customers. Promotion:- This strategy is used by the companies to let people know what they are offering to them with an intention to make them buy and use their products. It involves commercial ads, sales promotion etc. Kelloggs used a lot of promotion techniques to promote its products like sponsoring school programmes, associating itself with JWT ad agency, movies like Spiderman 2 etc. to boost its brand and sales of its products. To understand the various Challenges, various opportunities and threats that Kelloggs now face in India can be done by examining the external environment of Kelloggs. To understand it the PESTEL Analysis, SWOT Analysis and the PORTERS 5 GENERIC FORCES have been analysed. PESTEL ANALYSIS:- Political: The political challenges and threats Kelloggs is facing results from the rising ethnic conflicts in the disturbed areas of India like Kashmir and the other regions of it. According to the latest report of IFC and the World Bank, India is being ranked I34 in the list of Ease of Doing Business 2011. Further Indian Governments policy under Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (1973), which requires foreign investing companies to dilute their equity holdings to 40% act as a political challenge to it. Economic: According to the CIA Factbook 2001, about 1/4th of Indian population lies below poverty line. Kelloggs products are quite high priced. No doubt the Indian economy is booming as one of the largest economies of the world, still people feel price reluctant to buy Kelloggs product. Further being a huge country, there is a huge difference in the spending power of the people. Social: Difficulty in understanding the mindset of different geographical segment of customers i.e. Indian customers, e.g. Indians misunderstood how to eat cereals with cold milk. Instead, they used to take it with hot milk and thus make it soggy. People prefer the traditional Indian breakfast dishes. But still people are changing their traditional way to more global cultural traits owing to the factors like health benefits, Getting in Shape predominantly among women, increment in the awareness of convenient foods and growing concern for the deficiency of vitamins, minerals and other micronutrients especially among the kids. Technological:- The increasing use of the internet provides a useful medium for communication. Consumers remain up to date of the global trends. Environmental:- India is a vast country which requires a widespread and well set up distribution infrastructure. SWOT Analysis:- . Strength:- Kelloggs is a leading brand with international quality standards. Kelloggs strength includes its advertising campaigns. It is the first manufacturer with the highest experience of ready to eat breakfast cereals which gives it a competitive advantage over the new companies. Kelloggs has a great distribution channel that help its products to reach the target consumers. It has a wide range of innovative, nutritional and convenience products that helps it to suit a range of customer taste and preferences. WEAKNESS:- Kelloggs failed to analyse the taste of customers culturally and biologically. E.g. Northern Indians used to eat Paranthas and South Indians used to eat Idli/Dosa. A complete and thorough Indian market research was needed before introducing Kelloggs in India. Its high prices act as a weakness as most of the Indian masses find it difficult to afford it. It did not succeed in repositioning itself as a convenience food company. E.g. its product Cheez-It was far away from breakfast and was an impulse food, therefore a different strategy was required for it. The fluctuating oil prices, non availability of good power supply hinders Kelloggs to lower its prices. Porters 5 Forces: Threat of New Entrants:- Multinationals like Heinz, Nestle etc. have entered in Indian market owing to its potential growth. So threat of entry is high. Threat of Substitute product:- Threat is medium owing to local breakfast meals. Rivalry:- Threat is low as there as just a few competitors for Kelloggs. Suppliers bargaining power:- Low threat as suppliers have more opportunity to bargain in terms new organisation entering the market. Buyers bargaining power:- High threat as buyers have an open option to buy from other organisation like Heinz etc. Recommendations and Justifications:- On the bases of above report following recommendations can be given to the organisation:- Kelloggs should spotlight more on the market research and monitoring before launching any product or conducting any other activity. This is quite important as India is a huge market place with diversity in terms of costumers spending power. Kelloggs should increase its communication channels so as to address the huge population of India. Further one of the main challenges for Kelloggs is to find product to suit well to the Indian taste. It should find products that could appeal well to the Indian masses. Kelloggs should collaborate with other small local companies of India which can lead to saving its costs and adding constancy to its productions. As India is one of the booming economies of the world with a vast potential of growth, so Kelloggs moving to Indian market is fully justified. Its entrance in the Indian market was not quite easy as it had to suffer huge loss due to unacceptance of its products by the Indian masses. Kelloggs used a lot of innovative strategies to remain in the Indian market. There are a lot of challenges which Kellogs has to face in India like fluctuating oil prices, repositioning its brand correctly, conducting good market analysis and monitoring the Indian culture, taste and price sensitive market.

The Origins of Akhenaten Essays -- essays research papers

The Origins of Akhenaten There is much that is known about Akhenaten the heretic pharaoh. More lies in speculation. Since his time, the Amarna period is one the ancient Egyptians themselves wished to forget much about Akhenaten remains unknown. What we do know is often confusing, different hypothesis piled upon each other make it difficult to distinguish what is fact and what speculation. We do know that Akhenaten, or Amenhotep IV, was the second son of Amenhotep III, an 18th Dynasty pharaoh and his Queen Tiye. Although we know he had an older brother Thutmose and several sisters, he was never shown in family portraits or records, the only documented proof we have linking him to Amenhotep III is a wine seal with his name and the inscription â€Å"estate of the true king’s son Amenhotep† . One of the theories why Akhenaten was never shown with his family is that he suffered from some sort of disease such as Froehlich syndrome (tumor of the pituitary gland) or Marfan syndrome. His elder brother the original heir to the throne died early and this could support the theory that there was a genetic defect running in the family. If this was the case however, why would the royal family hide Akhenaten from public view, if both sons suffered from the same disease? Both Froehlich syndrome and Marfan’s syndrome correspond with some of the physical characteristics Akhenaten is portrayed as having , the full lips, elongated ear lobes, long arms and fingers, misshapen head, high cheekbones, slanted eyes, paunch belly, breasts and full hips and thighs. The first to offer the hypothesis that Akhenaten suffered from Froehlich syndrome was Dr. G. E. Smith, however, some facts do not fit this hypothesis. Victims of Froehlich syndrome are usually attributed with endocrinal mutation resulting in impotency. This seems unlikely, even though Akhenaten is in some images portrayed without his sexual organs, we know he fathered six daughters and possibly a son Tutankhamen. It can be argued both that Akhenaten really looked like this or that his portrayal is simply a result of the changing art forms during the Amarna period. The evidence on hand could point either way, for example Egyptologists have argued that the fact that Akhenaten is sometimes portrayed as more or less normal looking points to his other portraits as being the result of the changing art form. The counter argument is o... ... The old gods were reinstated and Akhenaten’s son and daughter changed their names to Tutankhamen and Ankhesenamen. Under their reign, and the reign of the pharaohs Aye and Horumheb who followed them, all memories of the Amarna period were eradicated. Akhenaten, Tutankhamen and Aye were purged from the list of kings and Akhetaten was razed to the ground. It is believe that the mummy of Akhenaten was destroyed; it is certainly true that there is great difficulty concerning the burial places of Akhenaten, Tiye, Nefertiti and many other people of the Amarna period. The one thing that is clear is that the reign of Akhenaten was highly unpopular with someone in power, all though it was almost a tradition for pharaohs to cut each others names from their statues and claim them for there own, there was a deliberate attempt to pretend that the Amarna period never happened. Personal Leadership Statement Essay - 1257 Words

Is a leader as defined in the Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary, merely one who leads - synonymous with a boss? Or something more? I believe that a leader is much more than that and can be defined in any number of ways. In attempting to define a leader personally, I will use both myself and others as examples. For many years, I have been told by teachers, family, and friends that I am a good leader. Until fairly recently, I had never truly thought about what it means to be a good leader and just took it as a compliment. Leadership is an intangible concept which cannot be properly outlined in a dictionary, but one which must be formed and explained only through one’s own philosophies and experiences. Perhaps the most important†¦show more content†¦A well-researched knowledge-base is a necessity. Organization is also key to being a leader. A leader must plan thoroughly to properly direct the group. Even though careful planning is crucial, a leader must remain flexible when problems arise. Remaining humble is also important. Once a leader raises her/himself above the group, s/he will lose respect and will be seen as a ruler - and not a leader. A leader must see eye-to-eye with the group to retain an effective role. To manage the needs of the group, a leader must be trusting enough to allow others to help. If a leader makes all the decisions without the group’s input, or does not allow the group an active role, the group will no longer agree with the leader and will not feel valued. The leader’s effectiveness and respect form the group will the drop. The group must also trust the leader to make wise decisions. Despite the fact that these qualities are most ly seen when leading a cause, they can be extended to other roles of leadership. Generally, a leader will either be given a leadership role, or will create one. For instance, I frequently volunteer at a nature center in my community.
